Deliberations in Martinsburg robbery trial set for Monday

MARTINSBURG, W.Va.¬†—¬†Deliberations in the trial of two Martinsburg men accused of robbing a man and woman at gunpoint in a church parking are set to begin Monday in Berkeley County Circuit Court.

Darius Porter and Delonte Jennings both face two counts of first-degree robbery and one count of conspiracy.

The victims had told police they were working on their scooter in the church parking lot at 220 West Martin Street when two men approached and pointed handguns at their faces before robbing them.

An investigation led to the identification of the suspects, but in closing arguments, defense attorney Tom Stanley asserted that police mishandled the investigation and that the defendants were wrongly charged.
