KINGWOOD, W.Va. — Two Florida men suffered minor injuries after a tractor trailer rollover in Preston County early Friday morning.
Alex Guerrier, 37, and his passenger Clebert Aristide, 32, were headed west on Veteran’s Highway hauling chicken from Virginia to Ohio when they wrecked near the bottom of Caddell Mountain.
The 5:09 a.m. accident closed the highway through nearly 2:00 p.m.
A wrecker company worker doing cleanup said it was a mess.
“It was a fresh chicken. It wasn’t frozen. Boxes exploded and bags exploded,” John Alborn said.
The rig rolled blocking both east and west bound lanes of state route 7.
Alborn said the truck came to a rest about 200 yards from a runaway truck ramp.
“He passed up the truck runaway ramp and tried to put it in the ditch and ran up on the bank and rolled over,” Alborn suspected. “It was foggy this morning when we got here too. They possibly didn’t even see it.”
A utility pole was also broken during the crash.
Police from multiple agencies and firemen from Kingwood and Terra Alta responded to the scene and assisted with traffic control.
Drivers were being advised to listen for local radio reports to find out when Route 7 would reopen.
