Murder trial set to begin in Martinsburg

MARTINSBURG, W.Va. – Three people head to trial today in connection with a fatal September 2014 shooting.

Tulsa Johnson, 36, and Vincent Smith, 19, were indicted in February on single counts of murder, felony murder, first-degree murder and conspiracy in connection with the death of Michael Garcia at the Tabler Station Business Park.

Jucobe Johnson, 35, faces a charge of accessory after the fact to murder.

The Herald Mail reports trial was originally set to be held in June, but was postponed due to ongoing efforts to obtain the results of DNA analysis and compile other evidence for the trial.

Garcia, 33, was shot four times during what investigators believe was a drug-related robbery.

He was found dead in the middle of Technology Drive on Sept. 14 at about 1:30 p.m.

Police estimated the shooting occurred 30 to 45 minutes before deputies responded to the scene.
