Martinsburg man charged after striking pedestrians

MARTINSBURG, W.Va. — A Martinsburg man faces numerous charges after the vehicle he was driving struck several pedestrians Saturday night.

Martinsburg Police said George Stephens Jr., 43, was charged with four counts of hit and run with personal injury, driving while under the influence and DUI with injury.

The incidents occurred Saturday just before 9:00 p.m.

Witnesses told police a vehicle had struck several pedestrians then fled the scene.

Police arrested Stephens after witnesses pointed out his vehicle.

The four victims were treated at Berkeley Medical Center in Martinsburg and later released.
