Ohio native sentenced for failure to update sex offender registration

CLARKSBURG, W.Va. — A convicted sex offender has been sentenced in federal court after he failed to properly update his registration status.

Richard Doman, 47, of Lorain, Ohio, received 18 months in prison based on his guilty plea to one count of Failure to Update Sex Offender Registration back in November 2015.

He was convicted in 2003 of Statutory Sexual Assault and Indecent Assault in the Court of Common Pleas of York County, Pennsylvania. As a result of that conviction, he is required to register as a sex offender.

Doman moved from Ohio to West Virginia in 2014 without updating his sex offender registration.

The U.S. Marshals Service investigated this case

Assistant U.S. Attorney Sarah Montoro and former Assistant U.S. Attorney Shawn Morgan prosecuted the case on behalf of the government, while U.S. District Judge Irene M. Keeley presided.
