Raleigh County man charged with sexually assaulting 3-year-old relative

BECKLEY, W.Va. — A Raleigh County man has been charged with sexually abusing a child over the course of several years, beginning when the child was three-years-old.

According to court documents, Richard Lee Chambers Jr. of Ghent had inappropriate contact with the alleged victim on several occasions during a four-year period.  During an interview with the Just For Kids Advocacy Center in Beckley, which is part of the West Virginia Child Advocacy Network, the child — who is now seven-years-old — stated that Chambers, on one occasion, held a gun while engaging in a sexual act.  The child also said Chambers may have sexually abused a 3-year-old sibling during the course of another incident, although the accuser did not directly witness the alleged assault.

Chambers, who is related to the alleged victim, was charged with sexual abuse by parent, guardian, or custodian.  He’s being held under a $100,000 dollar bond.
