State Police investigating apparent murder-suicide in Raleigh County

RALEIGH COUNTY, W.Va. —  The bodies of a husband and wife were discovered Saturday inside a home in an area between Beckley and Beaver in Raleigh County, following a double shooting authorities said appeared to be a murder-suicide.

West Virginia State Police responded to Raleigh Ridge Road, where the bodies of the victims were found Saturday night. According to investigators, the body of Lisa Shrewsbury was found with a gunshot wound in a bed at the couple’s home, and the body of her husband, Darrell Shrewsbury, was lying next to the bed with a single gunshot wound. State Police said a .22 caliber handgun was in Mr. Shrewsbury’s hand.

The bodies were sent to the Office of the Chief Medical Examiner for autopsies.

The couple reportedly was estranged at the time of the killings.
