Father shoots, wounds daughter during altercation in Fayette County

FAYETTE COUNTY, W.Va. — A domestic dispute resulted in one person being wounded by gunfire in the Jodie area of Fayette County Tuesday, according to investigators.

Allen Lee Estel, 58, of Belva, was taken into custody by sheriff’s deputies who arrived at the scene, shortly after receiving a call about an incident involving a firearm.

Fayette County Sheriff Mike Fridley said the caller’s father-in-law had arrived at the residence armed with a handgun, which discharged during an ensuing altercation, striking the the suspect’s daughter in the leg.

The victim was transported to a local hospital for treatment. Her name was not released.

Estel was charged with wanton endangerment and taken to Southern Regional Jail.

No bond information was disclosed.
