Construction crews continue progress around Monongalia County

MORGANTOWN, W.Va. — While the work is not done yet, state Division of Highways crews are making progress on road construction in Monongalia County.

Workers completed 61 miles of construction last year, and are working on Route 7 and Coopers Rock.

District 4 supervisor Darby Clayton told WAJR-AM while the Milground Road project was delayed, work is expected to go forward.

“We’re moving forward with it. The Arnettsville Bridge is about a $1.3 million project that’s going on right now,” he said. “The Coopers Rock to Goshen Road I-68 cable guardrail project, it’s almost a $9 million dollar project.”

The Division of Highways has partnered with the Monongalia County Commission to prove Chapin Road to the Mylan Park Aquatic Center.

“We did some drainage improvements, slide repairs, and installed a lot of new guardrail, and we’re thankful the new guardrail was in place to keep people from sliding over the hill,” he said.

Plans for this year are still being finalized.
