HARDY COUNTY, W.Va. — The search continues for a new president for Eastern West Virginia Community and Technical College located in Moorefield.
“Unfortunately, Eastern went through a search process and the process was a failed search process and so they’re starting again,” said Dr. Sarah Armstrong Tucker, chancellor for the West Virginia Community and Technical College System.
Members of the West Virginia Council for Community and Technical College Education recently approved a contract extension, allowing for renewal by individual months, for Dr. Chuck Terrell, Eastern’s outgoing president.
Terrell, who has been Eastern’s president since 2010, said he was willing to stay on through at least December of this year.
A presidential search committee within Eastern’s Board of Governors was leading the search with support from the Association of Community College Trustees.
“They decided to take a more conservative approach with the timeline so it will extend into next year,” Terrell said of the BOG plans.
“They consider, with COVID-19, they want to have a little bit more of a thorough search getting some potential candidates.”
The new goal was to bring in a new president by late spring or early summer of 2021.
