Lottery sets dates for 10-year re-bid of limited video lottery permits

West Virginia Lottery officials have approved a schedule for a 10-year re-bid of limited video lottery permits.

The routine re-bid would be good for permits for a period starting July 1, 2021, and going through June 30, 2031.

Members of the West Virginia Lottery Commission agreed on dates for the permitting process during a Tuesday morning meeting.

A first round of bidding begins Nov. 13, 2020 — closing on Jan. 21, 2021. The bid opening would occur Jan. 22.

That would include 7,800 permits at a minimum bid of $7,500 per permit.

A second round would start March 12, 2021 and running through May 20, 2021. Bid opening would be May 21, 2021.

A a minimum bid for that second round would be $8,500.

Under provisions of state law governing limited video lottery, the Lottery is to provide for the rebidding of terminal permits every 10 years.

In 2010, Lottery set a $5,000 minimum bid per permit.

Also, through Sept. 30, West Virginia Lottery’s year to date fiscal sales totaled $278,882,379.

September’s overall sales were $91,303,095. Compared to the same month last year, sales were up less than 1 percent.
