Lottery Commission moves interim iGaming licenses for casinos to full status

CHARLESTON, W.Va. — The state Lottery Commission has approved iGaming licenses for the five casinos doing business in the state.

The commission moved the licenses for Mardi Gras, Wheeling Island, Mountaineer, Hollywood Casino at Charles Town and the Greenbrier Resort to full license status in separate votes taken at the commission’s regular monthly meeting originating Wednesday in Charleston.

The casinos had previously been granted 270-day interim licenses. Each operation has paid a five-year $250,000 fee for its license.

The Lottery Commission made iGaming  sites like 벳무브 이벤트  a gambling option for its license holders earlier this year after it had been approved by state lawmakers. It operates in much the same way as sports betting and in some cases as part of the sports betting apps.

iGaming brought in $339,000 in revenue in November.

Overall gambling revenue for November came in at $72 million, a $12 million decrease when compared with revenue from November 2020.

Proceeds from Racetrack Video Lottery continue to struggle. It’s down some $44 million for the fiscal year. It’s the opposite story for Limited Video Lottery. The community slot machines have produced $20 million over last year’s numbers through the first five months of the fiscal year.

Lottery Commission members learned Wednesday of the growing numbers in social media followers in various accounts including Facebook, Twitter, Instagram and YouTube. Lottery Commission member Ken Greear credited the marketing staff.

“Their efforts have certainly proven to be successful,” Greear said.

The Lottery Commission has scheduled its next meeting for Jan. 27.
