Arrests made in Morgan County home invasion

GREAT CACAPON, W.Va. — Morgan County Sheriff KC Bohrer now says two people have been arrested following a May 7 home invasion on Sticky Kline Road.

Bohrer said John Barber was arrested the day of the home invasion, which injured a woman and a man inside the home.

A second suspect, Remington Colt Arnold, was tracked down to a home on Nebo Road in Great Cacapon. After obtaining a warrant, sheriff’s deputies, Chief Link of the Berkeley Springs Police Department, and K-9 Ronan made entrance into the home where a female inside came out peacefully.

When Arnold did not comply, K-9 Ronan was deployed and found the wanted felon in the bathroom.

Arnold was injured by the dog and received immediate medical attention at the scene and was transported to Valley Health-War Memorial Hospital for further medical attention.

He was treated and released, then taken before a Morgan County Magistrate where his bond was set at $ 100,000.

A sheriff’s deputy was injured during the arrest, as well but has been treated and released.

Arnold now faces a variety of charges including —

a. Armed Robbery
b. Assault during commission of a felony
c. Entering without breaking
d. Malicious Wounding
e. Conspiracy

Sheriff Bohrer says on May 7 between 6:30 and 7:00 in the morning, a knock came to the door of the home. A single white male pushed his way into the residence and began to confront a male victim, about money allegedly owed to him. The suspect had a long piece of wood, later determined to be an axe handle, and began to hit the male victim.

Another white male came in the back door, wearing a mask.

The male victim and his mother were struck multiple times with the axe handle.

Both were injured – the mother was treated at the scene and her son was transported to Winchester Medical Center for injuries to his head.

Two other females in the home were uninjured.
