MARTINSBURG, W.Va. — The Berkeley County 250th Commemoration Committee is inviting the public to attend the grand opening and reception for its Discover Berkeley History Exhibit Friday afternoon at the Martinsburg Public Library.
Berkeley County Office of Strategic Planning & Communications Director Matthew Umstead said it’s going to be a big day in Martinsburg.
“We’re looking forward to that celebration,” Umstead said.
The historic display is described as an opportunity to travel through time with a series of exhibits illustrating the county’s “rich history from the times of Morgan Morgan and Adam Stephen to the arrival of the B&O Railroad, clash of the Civil War and flourishing booms of agriculture, orchards and textile industry.”
It’s no coincidence that the grand opening kicks off at 2:50 p.m. ahead of the evening’s Apple Drop in Martinsburg.
Umstead is spearheading the 250th Commemoration Committee.
