CHARLESTON, W.Va. — COVID-19 hospitalizations in West Virginia have dropped below 200 patients for the first time since last August.
The state Department of Health and Human Resources COVID-19 dashboard reported 193 patients in Thursday’s update. That’s the lowest number since Aug. 5, 2021.
There are currently 48 people in ICU and 30 being treated on ventilators.
Active COVID-19 cases statewide are now just 422. There were 128 new cases confirmed Thursday and seven new deaths.
Total deaths are now at 6,687.
The new deaths include a 67-year old female from Taylor County, a 73-year old male from Mercer County, an 80-year old male from Fayette County, a 75-year old female from Hampshire County, an 88-year old female from Kanawha County, a 59-year old male from Fayette County, and a 90-year old male from Mercer County.
