MORGANTOWN, W.Va. — For the second time in three days, tweets of celebration circulated quickly from the WVU coaching staff. Class of 2023 middle linebacker Josiah Trotter announced his verbal commitment to become a Mountaineer Friday morning.

Trotter is the son of former NFL linebacker Jeremiah Trotter. He played 11 professional seasons with the Eagles, Redskins and Buccaneers.
Trotter is listed as a four-star prospect by various scouting services. He just completed his junior season at St. Joseph’s Prep in Philadelphia. St. Joseph’s posted a 12-2 record this past fall and the Hawks advanced to the PIAA 6A state championship game.
A host of marquee programs made scholarship offers to Trotter. His recent ‘Top 5’ list included Clemson, Penn State, South Carolina and Virginia Tech. Trotter also held offers from Arkansas, Cincinnati, Marshall, Maryland, Miami, Oregon, Syracuse, Temple and Tennessee. He received an offer from WVU on December 3, 2021.
On Wednesday, WVU received a verbal commitment from Georgia transfer quarterback JT Daniels. He will be immediately eligible as a graduate transfer.
