Man faces numerous charges after Kanawha pursuit

WITCHER CREEK, W.Va. — Kanawha County sheriff’s deputies have charged a man with numerous criminal counts following a pursuit and brief foot chase.

Daishaun Ford

Deputies said it happened Friday night at just before 8 o’clock on U.S. Route 60 near Witcher Creek when a eastbound driver later identified as Daishaun Ford, 21, refused to pull over for a traffic stop. Instead he sped up to speeds in excess of 100 mph and began weaving in and out of traffic.

Ford continued east on U.S. Route 60 until he made a quick turnaround near Cedar Grove and began heading west nearly striking the deputy’s cruiser. Deputies said Ford’s car later got stuck on a railroad crossing at Pine Street in the Shrewsbury area causing Ford to run from the scene. He was chased down by deputies.

Deputies said they found drugs and scales in Ford’s car. He’s been charged with felony fleeing and possession with intent to deliver a controlled substance.
