State agency says child’s death under investigation

HUNTINGTON, W.Va. The death of a three-month-old child in Cabell County is under investigation, according to a state agency.

The state Department of Human Services said in a Saturday afternoon news release that it was aware of the death which took place at a Cabell County hospital.

“Law enforcement is involved in this case as the investigation is ongoing. DoHS will have no further comment pending completion of the investigation,” the DoHS news release said.

A news release regarding this type of investigation hasn’t been the norm for DoHS, which used to be part of the former DHHR, but the agency has been widely criticized in recent weeks in connection with the death of a 14-year-old Boone County girl.
