DUNLOW, W.Va. — A wanted man is in jail on $10,000 dollar bond following a pursuit in Wayne County where he rammed a police cruiser multiple times.
The Wayne County Sheriff’s Office said Shawn “Shug” Risner, 37, was discovered by the Drug Enforcement Unit in the Fort Gay area Sunday morning. They said Risner had failed to appear in court for previous charges.
When police attempted to arrest him, he used the truck he was driving to ram into a deputy’s cruiser, then side swiped it before fleeing.
This prompted a pursuit, which ended up going through Big Branch Road and the Black Oak Hill Gap area of Dunlow before deputies made the decision to cancel the pursuit due to safety concerns. However, they did find a handgun with an extended magazine and a quarter pound bag of methamphetamine that had been thrown from the vehicle.
Risner has since been taken into custody and faces multiple charges, including burglary, animal cruelty, possession of a stolen vehicle and possession of drugs, in addition to the charges from his initial warrant of fleeing, destruction of property and possession with intent to deliver, assault of an officer and felon in possession of a firearm.
He is currently being held at Western Regional Jail on a $10,000 bond.
