West Virginia’s four Electoral College votes are going to former President Donald Trump in his bid for re-election.
Presidential candidates need at least 270 electoral votes for victory.
“West Virginians sent a strong message to the nation tonight by supporting President Trump and the Republican ticket to a sweep in today’s election,” Senator Shelley Moore Capito, R-W.Va., said in a statement.
“I congratulate and thank President Trump for his leadership and commitment to the men and women in West Virginia.”
Trump has twice won West Virginia by wide margins.
In 2016, Trump got 68.5 percent of the general election vote in West Virginia, to Democrat Hillary Clinton’s 26.4 percent.
In 2020, Trump got 68.6 percent of West Virginia’s general election vote, to Biden’s 29.7 percent.
Trump is at the top of the political figures that West Virginians view most favorably, according to the most recent MetroNews West Virginia Poll.
Sixty percent view him favorably and 37% view him unfavorably, according to the most recent version of the poll released in August.
His running mate, Senator J.D. Vance, is viewed favorably by 39% and unfavorably by 34%.
Vice President Kamala Harris is viewed favorably by 35% of West Virginians polled and unfavorably by 61%.

That August poll showed Trump with a commanding lead among likely voters against Harris.
Trump, a Republican, led Harris, a Democrat, by a 61% to 34% margin among likely West Virginia voters.
