SSAC awards co-champion in AA cheer after clerical error

PARKERSBURG, W.Va. — The SSAC has announced it has awarded a second championship trophy in Class AA cheer after a clerical error.

The SSAC said Lincoln High School is now state champ along with Westside High School.

A Friday news release said Lincoln filed an inquiry after last month’s championships in Charleston “regarding the application of the tumbling rubric used during scoring.”

A review then began.

The SSAC said “after a detailed review and analysis of the inquiry, the WVSSAC has determined that a clerical scoring and recording error occurred in the tumbling sub-score. Upon correction of this clerical error, the final team scores result in a tie between Lincoln High School and Westside High School.”

The teams are now considered co-state champions.
