One arrested after standoff in Barboursville

Daniel Totten

BARBOURSVILLE, W.Va. — A Barboursville man is behind bars after he refused to pull over for police and barricaded inside his home.

Barboursville Police attempted to pull over Daniel Totten for a traffic violation. Instead he fled police and led them on a short chase to his home on Main Street in Barboursville. Police say he ran into the home and refused to come out.

Members of the Barboursville Police, Cabell County Sheriff’s Department, and State Police set up a perimeter to wait him out. Totren refused to come out and was finally forced out of the home with police fired tear gas inside.

He was arrested on charges of felony fleeing with reckless disregard and a misdemeanor count of obstruction.  He’s lodged in the Western Regional Jail.
