MASON COUNTY, W.Va. –Governor Patrick Morrisey and the team from Hope Gas joined together Tuesday to announce a major $250 million infrastructure investment in Mason County.
According to a release from Morrisey, Hope Gas, who is headquartered in Morgantown is going to invest in and operate the planned 30-mile pipeline to help expand residential, commercial, and industrial gas infrastructure in Mason County and surrounding communities.
The release said the first phase of the investment, set to begin in April, is the construction of a 30-mile, 24-inch natural gas pipeline. Completion of this phase is expected to be finished at the end of 2026.
This construction is expected create approximately 600 construction jobs for the West Virginia building trades and provide a long-term boost to the local tax base.
“Companies like Hope Gas are choosing West Virginia because they see a state that is competitive, energy-dominant, and serious about growth,” Morrisey said.
After the pipeline is finished, there will be a phase-in of residential and commercial service expansions.
