Charges filed in Christmas Eve wreck in Fayette County

Wesley Queen

FAYETTEVILLE, W.Va. — Charges have been filed against a driver involved in a Christmas Eve crash in Fayette County which caused major damage to a home.

Sheriff Jess McMullen announced multiple charges against Wesley Queen, 46, of Fayetteville. According to McMullen, Queen lost control of his vehicle on Gatewood Road in Fayetteville around 10:35 p.m. December 24, 2025 and crashed his pickup truck into a home. The crash caused major damage to the house and a fire.

Investigators determined Queen’s vehicle left the road and struck a utility pole and a tree limb before hitting the house and scattered debris across a wide area. Although Queen was injured, nobody in the house was hurt.

The Sheriff’s Department learned the driver told hospital staff he had been drinking and taking drugs the night of the crash. Deputies had been looking for a vehicle of the same description reported driving erratically earlier in the evening in the Glen Jean area, but could not find the suspect vehicle.

Charges were not filed immediately as deputies awaited medical test results and statements from witnesses.

Queen is charged with first offense DUI, reckless driving, destruction of property, failure to maintain control, and improper registration.
