Arrest made in Raleigh County double murder

BECKLEY, W.Va. Raleigh County sheriff’s deputies say a man is in custody in connection with a June 2024 double murder.  

Joshua Reeves, 28, is charged with two counts of first degree murder in the deaths of Dennis Gwinn and James Griffith.

They were shot before crashing into Beaver Baptist Church on June 22, 2024.

Deputies said there’s an arrest warrant out for a second man, Ranny Smith, who is currently jail in another state.  

The charges include two counts of first-degree murder, one count of attempted murder, one count of wanton endangerment, one count of use of a firearm during the commission of a felony and one count of conspiracy.
