CHARLESTON, W.Va. — Most of West Virginia is under some kind of a heat advisory pretty much through the end of the week. A dome of heat has settled over West Virginia and is leaving the state in a hot, sticky situation with intense humidity to accompany the heat.
National Weather Service Meteorologist Megan Kiebler said it’s going to be miserable.
“We’re looking at a multiple day stretch of very high temperatures and the combined effect of humidity making it feel much warmer,” she said.
High temperatures will be in the 90’s every day this week and might even top the 100 degree mark by Thursday. The heat index, once humidity is factored in, will make it feel like it’s around 105 or higher.
You’re advised to take frequent breaks if working outside, drink plenty of water, and don’t over heat. Nights aren’t going to offer much relief.
“The humidity is still going to be around so it’s not going to feel like much of a relief, even when the sun goes down,” said Kiebler.
There are isolated chances of rain at any point during the week when clouds become saturated, but any showers will be brief and and sporadic. The next rain in the forecast in abundance will be later in the weekend.
