HealthNet battling transport challenges amid severe flooding

BUCKHANNON, W.Va – HealthNet reports challenges to both its ground and air operations in the aftermath of severe weather that tore through West Virginia overnight.

HealthTeam Critical Care Transport faces disruptions on the ground because of hazardous road conditions. That includes several ambulances that encountered impassable roadways and required alternate routes, but those transports were completed without incident.

HealthNet’s Randolph County base faces the stiffest challenges, including restriction of transports on westbound Route 33. Northbound operations from the Braxton County base are also dealing with issues.

Flight operations were restricted by weather conditions during the storm but have since resumed under full operations. Healthnet’s Buckhannon base is operating with power from backup generators.

HealthNet aircraft and critical care-level medical teams are positioned at the Buckhannon airport to serve Weston, Buckhannon, Elkins, and surrounding communities with additional coverage for as long as needed. Collaboration with the National Guard is ongoing to provide extra assistance.
