CHARLESTON, W.Va. — The West Virginia International Yeager Airport has a new general aviation director.

The airport announced this week that Dean Selby has been hired as Director of General Aviation at CRW. He comes to Charleston after a stint as executive director at the Upper Cumberland Regional Airport in Sparta, Tennessee. Selby has a versatile 35-year background in managing facilities, property, and construction.
Described as a “lifelong aviation enthusiast” by the airport, Selby has been a pilot and A&P mechanic in his career. According to airport officials, Selby possesses both hands-on aviation experience and operational leadership that he’ll bring to the new role. His main duties will be to oversee the airport’s Capital Jet Center and Fixed-Base Operator (FBO).
CRW Airport Director and CEO Dominique Ranieri commended the hire of Selby.

“Dean brings a unique combination of airport experience, technical knowledge, and a lifelong passion for aviation,” Ranieri said. “General aviation plays an important role at CRW, from serving businesses and private aircraft operators to supporting economic development throughout our region. His experience will be a tremendous asset as he leads operations at Capital Jet Center.”
Selby also brings several impressive credentials to the table, with degrees from Embry Riddle Aeronautical University in Technical Management and a master’s degree in Aeronautics with distinction and a specialization in Aviation Safety. He also secured designation as an Accredited Airport Executive Certified Member (AAAE C.M.).
“I’m excited to join the team at West Virginia International Yeager Airport at such an exciting time for growth,” Selby said. “As CRW approaches its 80th anniversary, there is a lot of momentum around the Airport and its future. I look forward to working with our general aviation customers, tenants and partners and helping build on that momentum in the years ahead.”
