MONONGAH, W.Va. — A Marion County resident has been charged after an investigation into reports he hit a child for not going to sleep earlier this summer.

On July 26, deputies with the Marion County Sheriff’s Department were called to J.W. Ruby Memorial Hospital to investigate a report of child abuse.
Deputies notified child protective services that the juvenile victim had swelling on the left side of his face and the child’s front teeth were loose.
The child told a forensic nurse that Joshua George, 39, hit him because he would not go to sleep inside a residence on Cottage Avenue in Monongah.
Deputies obtained a warrant October 1 to view the medical records of the victim and found the juvenile reported that George got mad and hit the child, according to police.
George has been charged with child abuse and is being held in the North Central Regional Jail on a $100,000 bond.
