White Hall deputy mayor accused of stealing from Walmart

GRAFTON, W.Va. — The White Hall deputy mayor and member of the town council is facing charges in Taylor County for allegedly stealing from a Walmart.

Troopers with the West Virginia State Police arrested Timothy Ridenour, 49, of White Hall, after he allegedly stole nearly $100 worth of items from a local Walmart in Grafton.

According to a criminal complaint, troopers were made aware of a shoplifting and trespassing complaint at the Walmart location in Grafton back in July after they were contacted by Walmart Loss Prevention. In the investigation, troopers saw surveillance video that showed Ridenour allegedly “possessing and bagging items (from an online order) at the register” before leaving “without rendering payment,” at a self-checkout register.

Ridenour has been charged with trespassing and shoplifting. He was given a personal recognizance bond of $1,500, which he posted, according to court records.

MetroNews has reached out to the Town of White Hall for comment.
