Four charged in Wyoming County murder

JESSE, W.Va. — The loose words of a 12 year old girl were the spark which solved a missing persons case and resulted in the arrest of four people in Wyoming County in connection with a murder case.

State Police learned of a conversation between the young girl and her boyfriend, Robert “Tre” Burton III,19. The two were apparently discussing the shooting of David Crawford who was reported missing to the Wyoming County Sheriff’s Department in December. Troopers questioned the two individuals and developed evidence which led them to the discovery of a body in the Craney area of Wyoming County Friday night about 10 p.m. The body has been sent to the state Medical Examiner’s office for positive identification and cause of death.

Troopers charged John Toler, 27, of Turkey Dip, W.Va. with first degree murder and conspiracy to commit a felony.

Also charged in the case is Vicki Toler, 18, of Turkey Dip, W.Va. She’s charged with accessory after the fact and conspiracy to commit a felony. Raesha Massey, 25, of Oceana, W.Va. is also charged with accessory after the fact to murder and conspiracy.

The investigation also led to charges against Burton for second degree sexual assault for his relationship with a 12 year old girl. He too was charged with accessory after the fact and conspiracy.
