Former Chase executive charged with embezzlement

A former vice president for Chase Bank in Charleston is now accused of embezzling thousands of dollars.

Mark McCoy, 46, from Charleston was charged on Monday.  He faces up to 30 years in prison and a fine of as much as $1 million for the crimes.

In a court filing, U.S. Attorney Booth Goodwin says McCoy took the money while working at the Charleston branch of Chase from September 2008 through June 2012.

At the time, McCoy was an executive with Chase who handled private client banking services.

The U.S. Secret Secret handled the investigation.
