Procter & Gamble ready to invade eastern panhandle

MARTINSBURG, W.Va. — Anticipation for Procter and Gamble’s new Berkeley County manufacturing facility is high ahead of a ceremonial groundbreaking set for Friday morning.

Plans have been submitted and work will formally begin at the Tabler Station Business Park later this fall, something Executive Director of the Berkeley County Economic Development Authority Steve Christian says everyone is ready for.

“I think everybody’s very excited to get the project underway,” Christian said. “It’s going to be exciting to watch it being built.”

The company announced they would be locating a multi-category manufacturing facility plant in Berkeley County back in February.

The project has already been a draw for related businesses to come into the county, Christian said.

“We’re in the process of helping create a cluster of business that’s going to be orbiting this factory,” he said.

The facility will take between two to three years to build and is expected to have 700 employees by 2019.

The company’s initial investment in Berkeley County is $500 million.
