Marion County sex abuser convicted of multiple felonies

FAIRMONT, W.Va. — It took a Marion County jury less than an hour to return a verdict in a sexual abuse trial.

Robert Thomas, 47, was arrested in April 2016 after a young girl, 6 years old at the time, told Sgt. Adam Scott with the West Virginia State Police Crimes Against Children Unit her mother’s live-in boyfriend abused her “every time mommy goes to work”.

Thomas may have shared a home with the woman and girl for up to 2 years.

Thomas had been arrested on multiple charges including felony child sexual abuse by a parent, guardian or custodian and first degree sexual assault.

Thomas was convicted of six felony charges on Thursday, Jan. 26, 2017.
