Update: Lewisburg shooting suspect in custody; victim on life support

LEWISBURG, W.Va. — A man suspected of shooting a teenage female Friday in Greenbrier County turned himself in to authorities Saturday.

Edward Alexander Smith-Allen, 19, was taken into custody by Lewisburg Police and arraigned in Greenbrier County Magistrate Court on one count of wanton endangerment with a firearm. He was released on a $5,000 bond.

According to the police chief, officers found the victim inside a vehicle at Dorie Miller Park, suffering from a single gunshot wound. She initially was taken to Greenbrier Valley Medical Center, then transferred to a Charleston area hospital, where she was placed on life support, according to family members.

Her identity has not been disclosed.
