Audra State Park incident was a murder-suicide

PHILIPPI, W.Va. — State Police say two men drew on one another in a gun battle at Audra State Park over the weekend, leaving one dead. Then, according to State Police, the suspect shot and killed himself.

Troopers say the incident happened in the parking lot of the State Park when Dustin Peterson and Chris Price got into an argument which escalated into the two pulling pistols on one another and firing.

According to investigators Peterson was there to meet with his estranged wife Nycole Peterson. She was camping in the park with Price. When Price joined to two is when the trouble began. Troopers say Dustin Peterson shot Price and killed him instantly in the gun fight. He then turned the gun on himself with a single shot that kill himself instantly. Both were pronounced dead at the scene.

The incident happened about 6:15 p.m. Saturday. Authorities did not identify where the individuals were from.
