Investigation underway into shooting death in Romney

ROMNEY, W.Va. — Romney Police said a man was shot and killed in an arguement at his home this week.

The victim is identified as Thomas Puffinburger, 31. He was shot on Tuesday afternoon during an arguement with a man who lived at the same address.

Officer Brian Kerling of the Romney Police Department said they have questioned the alleged shooter, but so far he has not been charged.

“He was questioned after the incident and released. He is not in custody or incarcerated at this time. Depending on the outcome of this investigation, this case may go directly to the grand jury,” Kerling said.

It’s unclear what the two men were arguing about which led to the gunfire.
