One man dies days following shootings in Beckley

BECKLEY, W.Va. — Police in Beckley said one man has died from his injuries sustained in a shooting over the weekend.

In a release put out by Deputy Chief David Allard Tuesday, Lashawn Deondre Shelton, 26, passed away at a hospital in Charleston Tuesday, April 25.

The shooting happened Saturday April, 22 in Beckley on Sheridan Avenue.

A total of three shootings had been reported in the Beckley area in the last week. In response to the multiple shootings, Beckley Police announced they would ramp up their presence in the area to prevent further violence from occurring.

Police also say the shooting that happened Saturday and the one two days before are believed to be connected, this according to Chief of Detectives Alvin Bragg. Shelton is one of three suspects police were looking for in connection with at least two of the shootings.

Anyone with information on the shooting resulting in his death is urged to contact the Beckley Police Department Detective Bureau at 304-256-1720 or Crime Stoppers of West Virginia via their free P3 Tips App available for download at www.crimestopperswv.com.

Cash Rewards will be paid for information leading to an arrest.
