We live in a fallen world. Scripture teaches that the world we inhabit today is not as God originally designed it.
The fall of man corrupted His perfect creation, altering all aspects of life from their intended design.
The Bible also teaches that man was created uniquely as man and woman uniquely as
woman. Transgenderism does not align with the Creator’s original design.
However, because of the Fall, deviations from that design exist. It is plausible that someone may be
born biologically male yet have a female psyche and disposition—or vice versa. How such a person chooses to navigate life is their own decision shaped by various influences; perhaps scripture is included among them and perhaps not. Those decisions are neither mine nor yours to make.
Candidly, I do not expect a non-Christian to share my beliefs. The Great Commission calls me to share the Gospel, not to ensure others accept it—that is in God’s hands.
However, I am called to love all people, not just certain people. At the same time, I am called to
uphold biblical truth. One can be truthful while still demonstrating love and compassion.
I challenge my fellow believers to remember that as I endeavor to remember it as well.
Our government has no role in dictating thought, but it does have a duty to ensure basic fairness. It acquires that duty through the voluntary surrender of certain freedoms by its citizens.
Despite bodily-altering surgeries and hormonal treatments designed to suppress or enhance certain biological traits, one cannot ignore the plain reality that transgender female athletes competing against non-transgender female athletes creates a disparity.
The outcomes bear this out. Legislation that prohibits this practice is both reasonable and
equitable.
Logically, one would not expect a 12-year-old boy to compete against a Division I senior on the basketball court or football field—the gap is too wide, and success for the 12-year-old is implausible. Within the context of competition, that is unfair.
The same principle applies to transgender females competing in girls’ sports.
Perhaps one day, the masses will no longer care about such distinctions. Perhaps society always will. I cannot predict the future.
But while logical reasoning provides a clear solution to this dilemma—a non-relative truth grounded in biological reality—we must remember that truth, when not shared in love and caring for our fellow man, becomes as useless and unjust as the argument it seeks to refute.
