Assistant director of MECCA 911 Brad Wilson said five adults and one child evacuated from the fire that involved three townhomes.

“At 12:50 a.m. somebody reported a car on fire in a garage and it sounded like the person across the street called it in,” Wilson said.

Firefighters from Cheat Lake, Cool Springs, Clinton District, Granville, Star City, and Westover responded to the scene. Mon EMS assisted during the response.

“It looks like the first unit on the scene found heavy fire at least in a couple of the townhomes,” Wilson said.

Firefighters cleared the scene at 5:53 a.m.

The cause of the fire is being investigated by the state Fire Marshal.
