SUMMERS COUNTY, W.Va. –A Summers County woman who pled guilty in the 2022 death of her daughter received her sentence Thursday.
Rebakah Weikle, 33, was sentenced to two life sentences, one for first-degree murder and one for child abuse and neglect.
Weikle previously pleaded guilty to the murder of her 4-year-old daughter. As part of that plea, she admitted to cutting her daughter’s throat and stabbing her to death while at their home in the Forest Hill area in July 2022.
Prosecutors have said that Weikle had left the girl’s body overnight until her husband, Rusty, woke up the next morning and found the child and called 911.
Rusty pleaded guilty to child abuse and neglect charges and was sentenced to home confinement and probation.
Prosecutors also said that she tried to make it appear that Rusty killed the child to cover up alleged sexual abuse but later admitted to that being false.
