McDowell County man arrested for alleged sexual abuse of 14-year-old girl

ENGLISH, W.Va. — A McDowell County man is in custody over allegations of sexual assault from a 14-year-old girl.

The McDowell County Sheriff’s Office said Bobby Jim Kennedy, 22, was arrested Sunday on five charges. He’s charged with first- and second-degree sexual assault, child sexual abuse by a guardian, child abuse creating risk of injury, and providing alcohol to a minor.

Deputies were called to a house in the English area of the county because of a sexual assault report from a female teenager. They conducted interviews with the victim, witnesses, and Kennedy.

Authorities said a member of the new McDowell County/Wyoming County Crimes Against Children Task Force spearheaded the investigation.

Kennedy is in the Southwestern Regional Jail on $130,000 cash-only bail.
