Monongalia County BOE appoints former school superintendent to fill board vacancy

MORGANTOWN, W.Va. — A familiar face to the Monongalia County school system will return to serve on the county board of education.

The BOE unanimously approved the appointment of former Monongalia County School Superintendent Dr. Frank Devono Tuesday night to the seat vacated by former member Dr. Christina Fattore Morgan.

Devono was nominated by BOE President Mike Kelly.

“A recommendation for the new board member would be Frank Devono, he’s a former superintendent and very knowledgeable,” said Kelly.

Devono previously served asĀ  for 13 years before retiring in 2018. An education veteran of over 45 years, Devono has worked in a teaching or administrative capacity in two counties, including several decades serving as a teacher and principal within the Harrison County School system. Experience that prompted no disputes by board members over the appointment.
