Marion County authorities investigating reported shooting

FAIRMONT, W.Va. — An investigation is underway after a man went to a Fairmont church and admitted that he killed his daughter before promptly leaving.

Marion County 911 confirmed that the Marion County Sheriff’s Department responded to a welfare check at a residence in Monongah on Sunday after an unidentified man went into the Grace Lutheran Church in Fairmont and said he had shot his daughter.

Fairmont police were called before a request was made for sheriff’s deputies to conduct a welfare check at a residence on Stony Lonesome Road.

State police units were requested as part of the call.

No further details have been released.
