MIDDLEWAY, W.Va. — Two people were injured after a single engine aircraft went down in Jefferson County Thursday afternoon.
The crash came across the scanner just before 2:30 p.m. near Middleway.
The plane went down in a field near 494 Harry Shirley Rd, about a half mile from Leetown Road.
Scanner page Eastern Panhandle Working Fires reported two occupants were both out of the aircraft and injured, Priority 2.
Medical aviation was requested to the scene for one of the patients and was scheduled to land around 3 p.m.
A spokesman from the Jefferson County Sheriff’s Office said there was no impact to traffic in the area, as the plane landed in the back of a farmer’s field.
The spokesman confirmed one patient was airlifted to the hospital and the other transported via ambulance but there was no update on their conditions or any other aspects of the crash investigation as of 3:30 p.m.
The engine was found four yards away from the plane.
