BOLIVAR, W.Va. — A man convicted in a random, violent attack on a woman in Bolivar has been sentenced.
The Jefferson County Prosecuting Attorney’s Office announced Tuesday that Isai Osmar Chinchilla-Guerra was sentenced to 37 to 160 years in prison for 14 felony convictions from his jury trial in June.
Chinchilla-Guerra will be eligible for parole after 15 years because he was a juvenile at the time he committed the offenses in 2024.
“Defendant’s heinous crimes shocked our community. We hope this provides a stark reminder that such wanton acts of violence will be aggressively prosecuted,” Jefferson County Prosecutor Adam Ward said.
Prosecutors said Chinchilla-Guerra attacked the victim after she returned home, striking her with a cinder block, sexually assaulting her, stabbing and cutting her with a screwdriver and strangling her. The woman was able to escape and seek help from a neighbor.
