WELLSBURG, W.Va. — Former Brooke High School Principal Eric James waived his preliminary hearing Monday.
James, 53, is accused of planting hidden cameras in girls’ dressing rooms at the school. He’s charged with three counts of wiretapping and one count of breaking and entering a non-residence. James was arrested in August and fired by the Brooke County Board of Education last week.
James’ attorney asked that his $200,000 cash bond be reduced to $25,000. Magistrate Matthew Hardy denied that request. However, Hardy did agree to change the $200,000 bond to surety. That means that, if James posts 10 percent of the $200,000 bond, he will be put on home confinement. For now, he remains in the Northern Regional Jail.
James’ case now heads to a grand jury, which convenes next on November 2.
