Keaton arraigned on 394 criminal counts involving nearly 60 women

HINTON, W.Va. — A Pipestem man pleading not guilty Monday afternoon to 394 criminal counts alleging that he sexually assaulted, abused and committed other violent crimes against nearly 60 women over an 11-year period.

Matthew Keaton, 34, was arraigned in Summers County Circuit Court by Summers County Circuit Judge Amy Mann. A Summers County grand jury recently named him in a superseding indictment. Prosecutors said the charges involve 27 known women and 32 other women listed as Jane Does.

The crimes against the women are alleged to have taken place from 2010 to 2021.

Keaton is scheduled to be back in court on Dec. 7 for a status hearing.

He remains in jail without bail.
