CHARLESTON, W.Va. — One more frosty night is in store for parts of West Virginia before a mild, dry stretch settles in for the week ahead.
The MetroNews forecast calls for a freeze tonight into early Monday in Greenbrier, Harrison, Mercer, Nicholas, Pocahontas and Randolph counties, where lows are expected to fall to 31 to 32 degrees. Some high-elevation spots will be a bit colder, with Spruce Knob near 30 degrees and Canaan Valley and Davis near 32.

Across the state, Monday morning lows are forecast to range from 31 to 40 degrees. No county is expected to reach 28 degrees or colder, the threshold for a hard freeze.
Gardeners in the freeze area should cover or bring in tender plants tonight, and pet owners should bring animals indoors.
After tonight, the pattern turns noticeably milder. Highs are forecast in the 50s and 60s statewide through Saturday, ranging from 53 to 69 degrees. Charleston warms from the low 60s Sunday into the upper 60s by midweek.
Rain chances stay low across West Virginia through Saturday, and there is no snow in the seven-day forecast, even in the mountains. That adds up to a good week for leaf peeping, yard work and other outdoor plans.
