The Very BEST Time of the Year is Here!

I am certain most of you noticed this past weekend’s weather was quite different than the mid 90’s/high humidity days we all have experienced over the last few weeks.  And, while the much more comfortable weather was welcomed, it also made me think of those early fall days when high school football is the dominate

Three Solid and Deserving #1’s!!!

The 2018 high school football season came to a close shortly before 10pm this past Saturday night and when that final horn had sounded, one thing was very clear……the three champions that were crowned this past weekend in Wheeling were without question the three best teams in their respective classes and all were very deserving!

A First Time For Everything!

And then, there were twelve!  Last weekend the quarterfinals in the high school football playoffs delivered very few “surprises”!  In the twelve games that were played, ten of the higher seeded teams won, leaving only an “upset” in Class AA….#12 Weir defeated #4 Nicholas County 63-43 and in Class A – #6 Williamstown winning over

From 116 to 48 to 24…..

The “Second Season” Is Set To Go!!

As we enter the first full week of November, all but forty-eight high school football teams across the state are putting their football gear into storage and probably going over the many “what-ifs” from this season that just ended and also quite possibly already dreaming about the good things that might come their way in

Regular Season Curtain Closes Friday Night!

With 51 games scheduled for this Friday night in WV High School Football, the regular season will come to a close for 50 state high school football teams……the reason for the odd number of teams is Keyser will play at Mountain Ridge, Md!  Fifteen other teams finished up the 2018 high school regular season last

3-3, 4-4, 6-2 = 13-9!!

Regardless of what we are involved in, everything seems to come down to just the numbers!  The same is true for high school football…’s all about the numbers!  And, as we enter into week number nine of the 2018 season, it is certainly the “won/loss” numbers that every coach and player is looking at! At

The End is in Sight!

As we enter week #8 of the high school football season, it is quite obvious the 2018 campaign is winding down rather quickly for the 116 high school teams that play football in West Virginia! Heading into the home stretch, we still have 15 teams that are undefeated….4 in Class AAA, 5 in Class AA

Are We Heading Toward A Repeat In All Three Classes?

When the 2017 high school football season officially ended Saturday night, December 2nd, 2017, over the course of the two day 2017 Super Six weekend, we had crowned 3 State Champions.  In Class AAA, the Martinsburg Bulldogs won their 2nd straight big schools title and also completed their 2nd straight 14-0 season.  In Class AA,

Bad Weather, Late Kick-offs, Even A “No Contest”!

Last Friday night proved to be a challenging one for most teams across the state!  And, I say most teams, because even with all of the rain and all of the delays, several teams had their games go off without a hitch! However,a lot of those that were affected by the rain saw some messy

“AAA”, “AA” Constant – “A” A Little Unsettled!

With the first two weeks of the 2018 high school football season now behind us, it is evident this season is going to be as predictable as the last several!  And in that I mean, at least in Class AAA and Class AA, the teams that  everyone thought were going to be the teams near
